When did you last upgrade yourself?

What operating system are you currently running Reader?

I'm not talking about your phone or laptop, I'm reflecting on your own internal software upgrade.

At the Professional Speaking Association Spring Conference earlier this month I heard the brilliant Andrew Bryant suggest that he was running V5.1 of his own software; 5.1 being a riff on his own age (51).

The premise is that every year you get to upgrade your viewpoint on life, business, and you.

When did you last upgrade?

It's a novel outlook on an easily overlooked opportunity that we have to improve our own vision, direction and meaning... our 'why' as it were.

The really good software platforms often have open forums for users to suggest the updates they want the companies to incorporate. At the recent Canva Create launch, they proudly claimed that 50+ "community wishes" had been granted – from simple fixes to ground-breaking new tech: their audience's dreams were turned into reality.

What does your audience want from you?

If you could name three things you think you could do to make the lives of your clients and customers even better, what would they be? And what do you need to do to make them happen?

Say them out loud (send them to me) I dare you!

Your wish is my command

By pure coincidence, I'm running the same software version as Andrew and, next month, I will be updating to v5.2.

I'm already tinkering under my business hood:

  • New intro videos for each of the Four Fears® are now live on my website and YouTube channel (hey, have you subscribed yet?)
  • A brand new 20-Point Challenge to help you dig deeper into what you really want from your business this year and help you ensure you focus on the actions that will bring it to fruition
  • Some fun stuff around the Four Fears® book (shhh I can't say what just yet)

But what else could I be doing to help you write a better business story for yourself?
Please do email me back with ideas.

When shall we meet again?

My next Taste of Victory masterclass is scheduled for Wednesday 4th June.

Here's the WIIFY:

  1. For small business owners who are hesitating around taking the next big step forwards in their business
  2. Ensuring that this big step (be it a switch in strategy, sales growth or even a major business rethink) becomes a realistic and achievable next upgrade, with a timeline and action plan in place to make it happen
  3. Providing clarity around the required actions to take to make this update both realistic and sustainable - you CAN do this!
  4. Oh, and every attendee gets a free, signed copy of my book
  5. Only five spaces available.

Here's what one of the last attendees said:

Go for it, sometimes a fresh pair of eyes and way of thinking can be just what you need… Mark offers this in spades, l highly recommend.

I am insistent that I can do better for you – let's make this happen, together.

Mark Franklin - The Four Fears® Guy

I help small business owners embrace The Four Fears® – the four most common mindset barriers preventing them from enjoying the success they deserve. "What are The Four Fears®?" I'm so glad you asked... :-)

You've the same 24hrs in the day as everyone else Reader! How yeuuch! is THAT particular motivational nonsense? Later this week I'm running a workshop on the "Toxic Positivity of Time Management" – the moral of the session being that; whilst it is entirely true that you do have the same amount of time as everyone else (and that no one can give you extra), what you do with it has much more to do with why you want to do the thing than how long doing the thing will take. Spoiler alert... it's...

That's a big question to start the week Reader, It's also quite presumptive of me – to suggest something in your business is broken. How (very) dare I? And yet... is something a bit askew? Tell me where you're at right now. On a scale of one-ten (ten being "everything is rosey thanks Mr Nosey"), how's business? How's business (on a scale of one-ten)? 9-10 – Perfect! Couldn't be better! 7-8 – Room for improvement but still pretty good 5-6 – It's not lighting me up right now 3-4 – At least the...

I feel like a fraud Reader, All this time I have been telling you about the Four Fears® and I've been keeping their evil twin brother a secret... Or have I? If you are wondering whether there are more than just four key and common hesitations, then I am about to allay your curiosity. No, there isn't a fifth fear. And here's how I can prove it. The science of colour If you are creative and enjoy playing with design programmes such as Canva or Creative Cloud, your mind (much like mine) may...
