If I could fix one thing in your business, what would it be (and why)?

That's a big question to start the week Reader,

It's also quite presumptive of me – to suggest something in your business is broken. How (very) dare I?

And yet... is something a bit askew?

Tell me where you're at right now. On a scale of one-ten (ten being "everything is rosey thanks Mr Nosey"), how's business?

Continuing the presumption...

Two questions for you then (assuming you're not a 10/10):

  • What are you doing to move the score from where it is to where you want it to be (and where it deserves to be)?
  • What can I do to help you move the score from where it is to where you want it to be (and where it deserves to be)?

Seriously. What can I do to help?

The bravest thing any business owner can do (especially a solopreneur) is put their hand up. I get it – I'm guilty of it too! We love trying to do it all ourselves (it's our business, our baby). We don't want to let go of anything, relinquish control or admit defeat.

But what if that next 'win' sits just outside your existing Comfort Zone? (spoiler alert - it does). What difference would it make if you raised that hand?

Two completely free 'test drives

  1. Take the Business Bravery Quiz – Designed for small business owners, this will help you find out a little more about where you already shine and what is stopping you from shining brighter*
  2. Book a 30-min call – You'll be amazed what we can unlock in half hour. It might be the conversation you needed to have

The best song on Bon Jovi's seminal 1986 album, Slippery When Wet, is Raise your Hands.

I mean I'm not a huge fan, but they made a good point with that one!

So here's a question Reader, Do you find yourself clinging to small, longstanding, unhelpful beliefs about your business – ones that feel safer to hide behind than to challenge? Things like: Mondays are always a bit rubbish No point starting anything on a Friday afternoon Everyone switches off once the school holidays begin (so best wait 'til September) A recession is a terrible time to start a business A recession is a fantastic time to start a business (see what I did there?) Like most...

Well, that was unexpected Reader! Up until a week ago, I would say that May has been the most successful and enjoyable month of my self-employed business journey: Two fabulous events (speaking and exhibiting) Dozens of magical new humans exploring the world of the Four Fears® Unbelievable book sales ...and more... Bloody plot twists Often, when I have guested on various podcasts, I have talked about my dad being my hero. When we're little, we get asked what we want to be when we grow up. I...

'Victory Wheel', illustrating a circular seven-step pathway to move your business from where you are, to where you deserve to be

Spin, spin, spin the wheel Reader! I love a good step-by-step process. "Do this, then that... and it will all work out". Wouldn't it be great if life was that linear? No curve balls or plot twists... a simple guarantee to move forwards with every action. Of course there are curve balls, but there is beauty in each of them. They are the surprises that might catch you out, but that open doors to new and sometimes overlooked chapters in your unwritten story. Mindset is one of those playgrounds...
