Hands up if you love a good pie chart!

What do you think, Reader?

Are you somebody who enjoys a good bit of data? What about if the numbers are exploring (and explaining) how mindset, self-value and self-belief have impacted business growth in 2026?

If that sounds a bit like you, you might want to add your thoughts to (and request a copy of) the annual Business Bravery Survey.

The 2026 Business Bravery Survey

It's been a year of hesitation for many: costs rising, Government budgets interrupting, uncertainty increasing... that would seem to be the overall feeling from business owners I have spoken to.

But what is your story? How has your own attitude towards recent 'global shenanigans' shaped your successes and challenges this past year?

Please do have your say (and share the survey with anyone who you think might benefit from contributing).

What we've learned from previous years

This will be the fourth Brave & Brilliant Business Owners Survey. Its purpose: to explore how confident business owners from all professions and sectors are feeling right now.

'Global shenanigans' (as I called it above) will play their part in the results I'm sure (rising costs, AI etc), but it is our own reaction to that external noise that has the most impact on our business journey:

Event + Response = Outcome (as I always say)

Some numbers for you from 2025

  • 53% of those surveyed last year confirmed that their levels of confidence has had a positive effect on their business progress
  • "Not being sure they had the necessary sills" was the most common mindset challenge that was mentioned (35%) with 43% suggesting that "not being good enough" was the fear that tracked most with them
  • Pride (in what they have achieved and the difference they have made for their customers) was the single biggest motivator for business owners (70%)

In summary, 2025 felt like a positive year overall. Is that still the case? What would your opinion be?

Share your experience

The Brave & Brilliant Business Owners Survey is anonymous, takes just a couple of minutes and (if you wish to enter the prize draw) you could win a half-day 'Stop Being Stuck®' coaching session with me as a thank you for your contribution.

Entries close: Friday 27th November.
Prize draw announcement: Tuesday 1st December.
Report available: First week of December.

Thank you in advance for your input and PLEASE do share if you know somebody who would be interested in adding their voice to the discussion.

Too much? If anything you're not enough! Did you use to watch Friends, Reader? If so, you might remember when Ross moved in with Joey and Chandler and, after a short while, began asking them to 'quiet down a bit' in various scenarios. Ahh, those sanctimonious little hand gestures. We all laughed because, well, Ross... but... Has it happened to you? Did someone, at some time, tell you to 'bring it down a bit'. Maybe not in terms of volume. Maybe in terms of attitude, viewpoint, enthusiasm,...

A young lady shrugs in confusion. Over the top of the image is the sentence (in a bold font) "That's not my why"

"That's not my why..." Happy Monday to you Reader, If you have kids or very young relatives, you may be familiar with the "That's not my..." touchy-feely book series (I used to sell them by the thousands!). The premise is simple: Take a cute character (baby animals work well) Every page reveals a characteristic of said creature that confirms it can't possibly be yours – e.g. That's not my guinea pig... it's tummy is too scratchy There is a touchy-feely patch, on the guinea pig's tummy, that...

A white piece of paper on a green background. A question mark is cut out of the paper, casting a gentle shadow

Be more curious today Have you ever been asked a question you can't answer, Reader? About 30 years ago, a mate of mine asked me "Who invented carpet?" There were two reasons he asked me this: He thought that I was pretty good at general knowledge He was a bit stoned I did not know the answer. I have subsequently Googled it. Carpets are Middle Eastern in origin and have been around for well over 4000 years. This is not the answer he was hoping for. He wanted names. I'll never have a name for...
