Happy December Reader,

The 2025 Brave & Brilliant Business Owner survey closed on Friday, and I'm delighted to be able to share the results with you this morning:

What's new? What has changed?

I share the Brave & Brilliant Business Owner Survey every November, expanding mindset musings that include:

  • What are your biggest mindset challenges in terms of growing your business?
  • What particular hesitations or beliefs (if any) have got in your way?
  • What keeps you going, despite any wobbles?
  • When you're at your best, how would you describe your state of mind?

The headlines are...

Excitingly, there is a definite swing towards positivity as 53% of business owners surveyed confirmed that their self-belief and confidence has had a positive impact on their business in 2025. But I'm not out of a job just yet.

Other points of note include:

  • Imposter syndrome remains the no. one reason for hesitation (43.2% of those polled)
  • 35.1% believe they do not have the necessary skills to be successful
  • 54.1% of those asked stated that, when feeling at their best, they are proud of the difference they are making for their customers
  • "Knowing what to do next in their business" was a primary reason for working with, or wanting to work with a coach (only 1 in 3 currently do so)

“My mindset is everything within my business. If my head is not in the game then nothing happens. Life gets in the way because my mindset doesn’t clear-cut work and life”
– Survey Respondent

Are you in the prize draw?

54 of the amazing 74 respondents opted in to the prize draw to win a half-day coaching package worth £540.

As mentioned in last week's email, this is my new 'Stop Being Stuck' programme. Although our work together takes place over a half-day, you will actually have my hands-on support for over two weeks. It's a powerful first step towards shifting historic beliefs (all of which played out in the survey results above).

I'll be doing the draw live on LinkedIn this Friday (5th December, 10am UK)

As well as sharing the top takeaways and headline results to those who tune in (You've got a five-day head start over those who aren't on my email list ;-), I'll be spinning the wheel and naming the winner on screen.

If you were one of the 74, thank you again for your contribution. My main aim with the survey (other than being able to share the results) was to give you five minutes to reflect on how you are feeling about your business as we come to the end of 2025.

If you didn't share your thoughts, then I hope the report gives you a similar opportunity.

And if you're wondering what you might do next...

I have just two spaces left for 'Stop Being Stuck' (in addition to the prize draw place) this side of Christmas.

Hit that reply button if you think it might be something your business needs.

Onwards to Victory (and thank you again).

Drum sticks hitting a snare drum with chalk dust flying in the air. Text over the image reads "Practice does not make permanent"

Practice does NOT make permanent We've been misled Reader, I'm working on something that I can't tell you about yet (I know... how conceited of me to think you care!). It is something that fits the following criteria: It's been an ambition of mine since forever When offered the chance, I jumped in two feet first I am 100% capable of delivering on it (above and beyond, in fact) Since saying yes, I've become more and more terrified Any of that feel familiar? A big opportunity comes your way and...

A photo of prickly cacti with a panel of text over the image that reads "Be more inconvenient".

Be more inconvenient Hi there Reader, You may have seen Hannah Spencer, a newly-appointed MP, delivering her first speech to the Houses of Parliament here in the UK. It was an honest, authentic and impressive debut. Her hands were shaking because being in that room clearly meant a lot to her. There was no political point-scoring in her words, no 'contrary for the sake of contrary'. It was refreshing in many ways: The British media decided it was newsworthy Except they chose to ignore Hannah's...

Jar full of assorted paintbrushes. Overlaid is text hatreds "Do you care too much?"

Do you care too much? I do like it when people agree with me, Reader, ;-) When I talk about how I help creative professionals "improve the emotional relationship they have with their work (as they have a habit of getting in their own way)", there is always a furious nodding of heads (yay!) When you're passionately connected to what you do, there can be a wonderful zen – an energy flow where ideas and inspiration tumble out of you like rainbow drops from a fairytale waterfall* You're at one...
